Dead legs

My legs feel useless now. This morning I rode my bike down to the East Coast parkrun, then ran a sub-21 minute 5k, and rode back home. That kind of tomfoolery would have been fine if I could have then slept it off, but a combination of five hours sleep this morning, and no nap today, mean I’m left with weak, tired legs, a feeling I haven’t had for some time. Maybe it’s the combination of cycling and running that has really taken it out of me. On the positive side, fastest 5k this year, so this week’s high volume training plan may be doing something.

Caught in a rain storm this afternoon, nobody had their nap so La Serpiente was hellish to deal with. We were going to a party in the late afternoon, but La Serpiente was such a raging tantrum I had to send my wife on ahead and negotiate with La Serpiente to get her to stop screaming. She was a model child at the party, curiously enough, then vaguely hellish (45 minutes to pit her to bed) tonight.

With a babysitter in situ, it was time to go out drinking, so I stole out for two or three hours of booze and cupcakes, then returned to write this. And so to bed.

  1. Sub 21 is pretty good going. We met a guy from New Zealand who did the Crystal Palace park run this morning in 24.
