Early to rise, not early to bed

I got home about 1:30 local time, having had about three hours sleep in the previous 24 hours. That made for a painful day today, ministering to La Serpiente’s demands, but probably easier for jet lag than if I’d slept more on the plane. I slept until about seven, when La Serpiente came into our room and clambered all over me in a state of total glee.

I am rather shocked at how well Destroyer can walk; when I left she was tentatively hovering, clinging to furniture, but now she’s standing confidently and walking around. Slowly, but certainly. Both girls have shown great excitement at my return, a great blessing for my ego.

In the afternoon, after the kids had napped, we took them on the cable car up to Mount Faber (where there’s a pond full of Koi that you can feed) and then down to Sentosa. I don’t think that sitting in a small glass box was the best way to readjust to Singaporean weather; I was suffering badly today. Even eating a chocolate coated lolly failed to raise my spirits much.

This evening La Serpiente acted out a bit. After five weeks of my wife’s stern disciplinarians, she chafes under the yoke and rebels by demanding I read her innumerable bedtime stories and bring her every toy in the apartment. When I explained this tactic would fail, she screamed and yelled and then conked out. A lot like me, I guess. Nighty night.
