Holiday planning and other nocturnal manoeuvres

Tonight I spent some time trying to sort out holiday plans. I booked two cars (one for driving around Portugal, the other for a week in England), one night at a hotel in Slough (I really hope John Bejteman’s friendly bombs don’t blow it up before we stay the night) and four tickets for the Legoland theme park in Windsor (with free burger meals) which should induce La Serpiente to lose her mind with happiness. Apart from the cars, this was all for free, cashing in yet more of my accumulated frequent flyer points, and yet I still have almost enough to send my wife away to Tokyo in the autumn. So it turns out that spending everything you possibly can, from phone bills to food delivery to delivery of children, on the same credit card for five years, has some benefits.
All that and I now have my 360° camera, which is a bit disappointing when it comes to night photography, but then may not be designed to use propped up on the 21st floor of an office building. I’ve yet to figure out quite what it’s good at (I suspect not landscapes) but when I do, I’ll find a way to show off.

The kids are still a bit sick. La Serpiente still has a bit of a cough, and Destroyer a slight infection that has her sneezing snot everywhere and revolting yellow discharge from one eye. This morning she woke up in great distress, right eye gummed up with gunk, and it’s been similarly repugnant throughout the day. Still, with both kids drugged up they went to sleep fast, leaving me with a very long evening to Get Things Done, whether that’s setting up adverts on Facebook, or sorting out travel arrangements, or just picking up some of the toys scattered across the floor. I hadn’t realised how much free time I had if I didn’t go running. Although I really miss running.

And now it’s 11:50, and the chores are done, and La Serpiente’s first wake up call comes.
