  • How late it was, how late…

I had three games of Blood Bowl tonight. First, a game In a tournament that went horribly wrong – I brought a team of undead horrors, where the gimmick is when injured they have a 50% chance of regenerating and coming back. My opponent killed four of them. None came back. The fifth did, then […]

  • Attention to detail

Checking my tax return status today, I discovered that I’d inadvertently submitted it with one digit incorrect in my social security number. So it hasn’t been processed in the four weeks since I mailed it in. On the other hand, I haven’t had any communication from the IRS pointing out that I failed to submit […]

  • Cycling and biscuits and cookies

I tried to mail some of the dice from our cancelled tournament to somebody today, but the price at the post office was $12, for three tiny little dice, so I held off on doing that. That made for a waste of a trip, and as I had to get Destroyer home for her class, […]

  • Heat and paradoxes

We put the kids to sleep yesterday and I tried to sleep on the sofa, but because La Serpiente couldn’t sleep and came out at 1am in search of a cuddle, I ended up stuck on the side of a squeaky mattress for a couple of hours, and only got three hours sleep on the […]

  • Recovery day required

To no surprise, I woke with my legs in agony today, after yesterday’s walk. I think it was probably a bad idea to do 10k in a pair of old Merrells that fell apart half way through, and it also probably wasn’t good, at the girls’ behest, to clown around with them standing on my […]

  • A long walk, spoiled?

We don’t have a car but I still wanted the girls to go on a hike, so about 9:30 this morning we all trooped off to Green Lake. That meant walking up to Phinney Ridge, then walking down a very big hill, doing a circumnavigation of the lake (about 5km) and then walking all the […]

  • Bowie and a hot day

Another day, another hot day. I had some calls today I couldn’t extricate myself from, but apart from that I was entertaining the girls. Today that consisted mostly of throwing them up in the air, or helping them to climb up into trees. So that was nice – any attempt to raise consciousness, or at […]

  • Early to bed

I played a game of Blood Bowl this evening and won 2-1, which was a nice change after losing so many matches lately. I almost had a draw because I scored too quickly in the second half – my old killer instinct isn’t strong enough to deny people the chance to retaliate. Maybe I need […]

  • Night running

After I put the girls to bed, I went out for another interval run. I did this last week and it was pain and suffering; a ten minute warm up, then 5 1k repeats, topped off with three flat out sprints for 200m each.

  • Of Bun-Bun And Things

Destroyer drew a picture of her favourite soft toy, a pink rabbit named Bun-Bun, along with Bun-Bun’s mother, on the kitchen whiteboard. This was quite glorious. And interesting that while La Serpiente shows little interest in drawing, Destroyer is already getting pretty good at it. Who would have thought two people would have different aptitudes?
