Month: March 2021

  • Building stress

I played three games of Blood Bowl this evening and finished with an unexpected win, which (according to my notes) is the first win I’ve had in over a month, since the 21st of February. And strangely, in a match where I didn’t really care much about the outcome. There’s a learning there…

  • Monday Monday Monday

As it’s Monday, I went to the dentist at 7 in the morning, although today it was only to have a permanent crown installed, so I was done in forty minutes and skipping out of the office, forgetting to hand back the sunglasses they’d given me to protect my eyes from the bright lights.

  • In need of sleep

I was zonked today. I’m not sure if that was a reaction to the vaccine, or just being tired. I suppose staying up to two in the morning playing Blood Bowl didn’t help. The morning was a rush once I did get moving; we had to do grocery shopping, then I drove through the wind […]

  • Doing shots in the morning

After a hard night’s drinking, what better thing to do than drive 30 miles south to Tacoma, to line up for a covid vaccination?

  • Late night swimming

I went swimming tonight. I’d slept really badly last night (maybe three hours) so the day had been a real struggle, especially with having to start with a 7am call. I took a nap to try to recover, but I was still hurting.

  • Too much sitting down

I had a ludicrous set of meetings today, starting at 7am and proceeding until 3:30 with hardly a break. I felt tetchy by the end, stressed at having to pay attention, my stomach roiling from over spicy food, my body sore from too much sitting, my spirit basically crushed. And tomorrow, I have another 7am […]

  • Back to the wall

After I’d put La Serpiente to bed, and woken up myself with a numbed left arm, I headed up to Half Moon Bouldering, the climbing gym that’s just opened near us. It’s full of insanely difficult problems; nothing is easy there, and more frustratingly, a lot of problems look like they should be easy, until […]

  • Woozy day

I put the girls to bed on my own tonight, while my wife went to the grocery store, and La Serpiente didn’t like this. She was rather sad that she didn’t have somebody hugging her as she went to sleep, and as I crept from the room after getting Destroyer to sleep, I heard a […]

  • New things and old things

This morning we drove over to Mercer Island, home of very rich people, so the girls could play on a dragon in a playground. This made them happy, as did getting McDonalds for La Serpiente, a treat she demands every three months. Or that we deny for every three months until we relent, I guess.

  • A visit to the bookstore

I had the day off work to look after the kids, and although I struggled for most of it, one highlight was taking the girls to the bookstore. The latest Dragon Masters book has just been released, along with some more Geronimo Stilton, so the girls got those and were very happy, and I picked […]
