Why

Perhaps to prove that by repeated effort, you can improve. Or to show off. Or to do something that might make some corner of the world more meaningful.

Since December 1, 2009 I’ve been posting on my blog every single day. That’s been hosted on Blogger at comments-zero.blogspot.com, but seeing as I’ve owned the Cushtie.com domain since the dot-com boom (I’m now not sure if it was first registered in 1999 or 2000, but it’s old) as of April Fool’s Day, 2013 I’ve shifted my blogging platform here instead.

It’s not clear that doing something every single day is always going to produce something of high quality. Because my job involves sitting at a desk all day and thinking, sometimes nothing interesting happens to write about. But then again, my job involves sitting at a desk all day and thinking: if nothing interesting occurs in those 24 hours, that may point to a problem somewhere between my desk and my keyboard. What writing every day forces is for there to be a minimum level of output; knowing my natural tendency to laziness, it would be much harder to reliably stick to a once-a-month or once-a-week schedule. But hopefully the signal to noise ratio doesn’t get too damning.
