Catching up on travelling

I’m not quite recovered from travelling. I got through today without feeling like death (my nose and ears and throat are beginning to recover and deslime themselves from all the flying) and I remembered to drink more than a mouthful of water, but when I got home tonight, after I’d bid farewell to my parents and sister, I lay down on the sofa to rest my eyes and woke up half an hour later, dead from the neck up. At least I just have to make it through to the end of tomorrow, and then I get to lie in bed for a few restful mornings.

Oh. Damn, I forgot I have children so the most restful a morning can be is when they choose not to bang a drum next to my head. Ah well.

It was good to have my family in town. With the girls growing up so far away from grandparents, it was important to have them as close as possible for as long as possible. Having my parents and sister around, and also letting them have a bit of distance to hide from the urchins when they got too intense, was good, although I’m not sure if that’s adequate training for the end of the year, when I dispose of the kids for six weeks and my wife has to look after them in the UK while I stay at home and weep while putting away laundry. Does anything ever really end?

Tonight has to come to an end. I have to go to sleep and rest properly. Tomorrow I start exercising again; my limbs ache from not being used enough for the last week, reacting now against enforced lassitude. I only hope they tolerate the return to being worked hard.

Oh, and I need to get my juggling balls out again…
