I entered a race today, 5km around Carkeek Park, my first race in absolutely years, and it was a brutal return. The start was easy, a slow jog along a flat path, but very soon it became a series of hills, each seemingly steeper than the last. I did a serviceable 32 minutes (slower than a time on the road, but this was muddy and slick with dead leaves) then went to watch the salmon in the river before going home to hang out with the children all day. (Except for sneaking out for a few hours to play Machi Koro at a friend’s place in Woodinville, going shopping, … er, not really hanging out much at all, come to think of it…)
