Climbing at 9 on Sunday morning leaves me with the rest of the day to accomplish other tasks. It also puts a big wedge in the day when I could be being fatherly, so I booked a session to go climbing at 9pm today. But then only remembered I’d done this at 8:50 this morning, when I was already driving to the climbing wall. So that was a good start…
We took the girls to the park to run around, and then at midday fed them quesadillas before I left for the homeless outreach. The sky had been threatening rain but it was clear and sunny on Airport Way. I bought a bunch of high-calorie food for people – cookies, soda, doughnuts – which was all gratefully received, but I’m not sure if it’s the optimal choice. Should we be thinking about "healthy" food or prioritize calorie density first? Something to ponder.
I drove back, watched the first quarter of the Superbowl, went to bed, and then after the evening of managing the kids, went climbing. I had a tough 40 minutes trying to go up stuff, succeeding half the time. When I started to fail the things I’d done before, I knew it was time to rest. All those pull ups have really helped, but I still have dead forearms now…
