When it came to putting La Serpiente and Destroyer to bed today, I first had to do La Serpiente’s vision therapy, and for twenty five minutes she prevaricated, until we told her it was time for bed and she then screamed and wept for another twenty minutes, before we got her upstairs (therapy session neglected) and she howled and wept some more and wouldn’t brush her teeth, and shouted at us that we were shouting at her (we’d remained calm throughout) and on and on and on…
Eventually she got a bit calmer, I finished reading Inkheart, and they went to sleep, and I went back to working for another hour. I have an hour or so of calls tomorrow when I should be on my time off, and then I can pack for Chicago and hopefully relax. And have no more shouting for a bit…
