Off to the zoo

I woke up at 5 this morning, played a game of Blood Bowl that I won (despite going 2-0 down in the first three turns) by wiping all his players off the pitch, and then we went out to shop for essentials like a laundry hamper and a stool for the girls to be able to reach the sink. The hamper we managed to find, the stool was more elusive and will be arriving on Tuesday.

After the early morning start, we went to my manager’s 40th birthday in a Bavarian themed bar, where the kids ate lots of pretzels and I had beer, and after that we went to the zoo.

We were last at the Seattle Zoo when my parents visited, back in 2014, and mostly it was as I remembered. Except all I could remember was the cafeteria. There was a lot more to it than that – there were snakes, and a peacock wandering around, and penguins, all of which the children were transfixed by, but by 5pm they were flagging, having been up for 12 hours and not managing to eat a proper dinner.

And thus we went home, with me doing my best to prevent the girls falling asleep in the car on the way home. We got them home, dressed them for bed, fed them some cereal and brushed their teeth, and without even having books read, they were asleep, leaving us to pass out on the sofa while trying to watch Good Omens. So that was a productive Sunday…

  1. I mostly remember the gift shop ! And the very nice wooden carved coasters I’m still using!
