Despite everyone in the house coughing and sneezing all night, I managed to get up at 7:45 and drive over to my race in Kenmore. It was pretty brutal: after swooping trails for the first half, there was a never ending climb back up the hill, complete with a random woman out walking a dog (off its leash), smoking, and carrying on a constant phone conversation at the top of her voice. And ascending faster than I could. There’s no justice.
Still, I had it in me to sprint to the end, and then survived long enough to get coffee with my friend Dave, beside heading home. Late today, sciatica set in, so I’m now on the sofa "resting" my poor leg.
And so, to 2023 resolutions:
- Read a book every week
- Start practicing the banjo again
- Work out at least three times a week
- Get to bed before 11
- Eat more fruit and veg
- Do better at Blood Bowl
There, that’s six. Surely that’s not too hard to stick to? Tomorrow, I should check up on how 2022 went…
