Today our carpenter assembled most of the stairs from the kitchen to the extension, after almost a year and a half of us having temporary stairs, covered in sheets of protective cardboard. We now have beautiful stairs made of cedar, awaiting a final stain and installation of the railing, and then that’s another part of the house brought up to code, and another bill. If I could just get through my tax return filing, I’d have ready cash to pay for this bit…
Otherwise, the day proceeded. I had to get an ultrasound exam on my arm today, so afterwards I drove to Top Pot and bought doughnuts, and then I went to the posh PCC supermarket and bought a panini (well, a panino, let’s respect plurals and singulars) but they heated it up in a toaster oven, not a panini maker, so the cheese melted out the sides, stuck to the wrapper and proved torturous to eat. That may have also been my fault for sitting up on the roof of the PCC during the only blinding sunshine of the day. Ah well.
At least that meant I’ve been using stairs. I planned to get some exercise tonight, but all I did was my tax return and feel stressed, so not quite there yet…
