It was a beautiful sunny day today, and in between yelling at the kids and trying to tire them out, I got to go to the gym and get some swimming in.
The pool was busier in late afternoon (usually I go swimming much later) so I took a book with me and read in the hot tub for ten minutes before a lane was free. That might not have been the wisest thing because going from the hot tub to a cooler pool was a big adjustment.
Still, I slogged away and put in 18 laps today, a new personal best :I wanted to do a quarter of a mile today, and also managed to do two laps without stopping. It took me almost half an hour, and everyone else is going a lot faster than me, but if I can keep getting to the pool consistently, and if I can start to move from there to being able to swim more laps without a break, then hopefully the extra time in the water will lead to more stamina and having to push myself less per lap.
It would also be nice to be a bit more consistent. I need to look at laptimes and see how they vary, and my right arm is a lot stronger than my left, but things are going in the right direction. And I really need some sleep after this.
