  • Ante la deluge

After some weeks that have been quite restrained, the weekend just gone feels like I went utterly berserk. I fitted in two weeks’ worth of laundry, breaking and then fixing the washing machine, going racing, making an attempt to tidy the house ready for the triumphant return of La Serpiente Aquatica Negra, packing my bags […]

  • A late night

I never thought when I was younger that I would be spending Tuesday nights wrestling with compression tights at way past eleven o’clock. And that’s not a euphemism for anything, that’s just how late things are tonight when I finally got ready to go to bed, and realised that with legs still so sore from […]

  • Rush rush rush

Today, another slow start. I really shouldn’t have stayed up so late watching Blade II, but I was shocked to discover that as well as Luke Goss from Bros, Danny John-Jules from Red Dwarf was also an evil action-vampire. • Fitting too much in

We stayed up late last night watching comedy on the television, when really I should have had an early night. • A full blast

We got up early today and had breakfast at an artisanal chocolate factory on Valencia Street. Ok, we had chocolate for breakfast. We’re adults, these are life decisions we’re (mostly) capable of. We were preparing ourselves, girding our loins as it were, for brunch.

  • A long day

I’ve had a very long day. I’m not complaining; it’s been a great opportunity to fit lots in, but it has also meant I woke on the sofa with drool in my beard at 10pm and the television blaring. Fortunately my progeny is too young to bear witness to this.

  • Struggling with email

There was a concert in the square beneath our apartment this evening. It started at around 6:30 and concluded at 10:30. I think it was a concert, but it could have been the first ever commercial spaceship full of Chinese tourists, preparing for launch into outer space; incredibly loud, with a myriad of flashing lights […]
