Wet and dark and cold

Everyone was tired and the weather was miserable. We spent the morning watching Matilda (the most recent Netflix adaptation) and then I read a couple of Laurence Block novels, hard boiled crime with broads and mooches and grifters.

Late in the afternoon we got the offer of four tickets for Wildlanterns. My wife wasn’t keen on this, thinking it was some sort of hockey game, but it was actually a walk through the zoo, lit up with dozens of giant illuminated animals and flowers.

This was a lovely way to spend the evening, the girls enraptured by it all, until at 6 when the rain bucketed it down and we got soaked, despite wearing raincoats. We made it back to the car and then we bumbled home to get cocoa and recover from the cold. And so to bed…

  1. Glad you got to see a light show. They have them at Kew Gardens and Crystal Palace Park. Keep meaning to get tickets, maybe next year !
